
US-Nepal Climbers Association Celebrates Everest Day 2025 in New York with Puja Ceremony and Message of Unity
Queens, New York – May 29, 2025 — The US-Nepal Climbers Association marked International Everest Day 2025 with a heartfelt Puja ceremony held at Sherpa Kyidug, New York. The event honored the legacy of Mount Everest and paid solemn tribute to the climbers who have lost their lives on the world’s highest peak.
The day commemorates the historic first ascent of Mount Everest on May 29, 1953, by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary. Their achievement became a symbol of courage and cross-cultural cooperation, and continues to inspire adventurers worldwide.
The ceremony, which included traditional Buddhist prayers and offerings, was held to honor not only that legendary summit, but also the many climbers and Sherpa guides who have perished in pursuit of their mountaineering dreams.
