Election Committee Expresses Gratitude to Outgoing Executive Members and Welcomes Newly Elected Leadership

February 8, 2025 – The US Nepal Climbers Association (USNCA) expresses heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing executive members of the 2022-2024 tenure for their outstanding contributions to the community. As the association welcomes the newly elected leadership for the 2025-2027 term, it reflects on the key accomplishments achieved during the previous tenure, while looking ahead to future initiatives.

The past executive team has been instrumental in advancing the US Nepal Climbers Association’s goals, particularly in mountaineering, environmental conservation, and fostering unity among Nepali climbers in the United States. Their hard work has left a lasting impact, particularly in advocating for the protection of the Himalayan environment and raising awareness about climate change in the region.

Under their leadership, significant milestones were reached, including the passing of a resolution to celebrate Everest Day annually on May 29. This day commemorates the first successful ascent of Mount Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay in 1953, serving as a platform to honor Nepali climbers’ contributions and advocate for the preservation of the Himalayas.

Another key achievement was the effort to officially name a street “Tenzing Norgay Way” in recognition of the legendary Nepali mountaineer, Tenzing Norgay Sherpa. This initiative honors his extraordinary legacy and inspires future generations to embrace mountaineering, adventure, and environmental stewardship.

As the association moves forward, the incoming executive members for the 2025-2027 term will continue these initiatives and further enhance the organization’s mission. Their focus will include strengthening community engagement, promoting sustainable mountaineering practices, and advocating for environmental conservation.

Phurba Sherpa, Chief Election Commissioner, expressed his deep appreciation for the outgoing leadership team: “Their unwavering dedication has shaped the future of the organization and contributed to the global recognition of Nepali mountaineers. We are confident the new leadership will carry the torch forward with the same passion and commitment.”

The association looks forward to an exciting new chapter and anticipates continued success under the guidance of the newly elected members.
