US Nepal Climbers Association Hosts Memorable Meet & Greet with Jamling Tenzing Norgay
Queens, NY – September 7, 2025 — The US Nepal Climbers Association Inc. had the distinct honor of hosting a special Meet & Greet event with Mr. Jamling Tenzing Norgay, son of the legendary Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, who, alongside Sir Edmund Hillary, made history in 1953 as the first to summit Mount Everest.
Held in a spirit of reverence and inspiration, the program welcomed community members and distinguished guests to celebrate the legacy of Himalayan mountaineering and the enduring cultural values it represents. Mr. Jamling Tenzing Norgay, himself a celebrated mountaineer who summited Everest in 1996, captivated attendees with stories from his own remarkable journey, reflections on spirituality, and the deep cultural and environmental significance of the Himalayas.
Mr. Norgay is also widely recognized for his acclaimed book Touching My Father’s Soul, in which he shares intimate insights into the life of his father and the profound connection between mountaineering, Sherpa identity, and Himalayan spirituality.
The event served not only as a tribute to his lifelong contributions but also as a platform to reaffirm shared commitments to important causes, including the “Save the Himalayas” initiative—a campaign aimed at preserving the fragile Himalayan ecosystem in the face of climate change and environmental degradation.
The US Nepal Climbers Association expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Jamling Tenzing Norgay for his presence and wisdom, and to all who joined in making this gathering a memorable success.
